Stone Age Day 29th September 2026
Today, the children had a fantastic Stone Age Day, immersing themselves in the world of the Stone Age and bringing their learning to life!
The day was filled with exciting hands-on activities. The children became Stone Age artists, making their own natural paints using flour, water and a range of spices. They explored the different colours they created and discovered how natural resources could be used to make beautiful shades.
They then used charcoal to sketch their own cave art, before creating textured backgrounds using lentils and rice. The children thought carefully about the marks, patterns and pictures they wanted to include, just like the cave paintings created by people thousands of years ago.
The fun continued with some exciting Stone Age-inspired games, including Catch the Woolly Mammoth and Crossing the River. The children worked together, used their problem-solving skills and had lots of fun along the way.
It was a wonderful day of creativity, teamwork, exploration and historical learning, and the children thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time and experiencing what life might have been like during the Stone Age!
