Becoming Anglo Saxon Traders

Year 4 have stepped back in time this week as we became Anglo-Saxon traders for the afternoon! As part of our history learning, we have been discovering the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and exploring how people lived, worked and traded with one another. To bring our learning to life, we were divided into seven groups, with each group representing one of the kingdoms and having their very own King. Armed with our Anglo-Saxon trading rules, we had to work together to trade and exchange resources with the other kingdoms. We had to think carefully about what our kingdom needed, negotiate with other traders and make some very important decisions! There was lots of excitement as kingdoms bargained, swapped resources and tried to make successful trades. It was a fantastic way to experience what life may have been like in Anglo-Saxon England while developing our teamwork, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills. We certainly discovered that being an Anglo-Saxon trader was not as easy as it looked!
