Physical, Social, Health and Citizenship Education at ECPS is delivered through the Jigsaw scheme of work and is taught on a weekly basis. Each session begins with a ‘Calm Me’ introduction, where calming images, breathing techniques and a chime are used to get the pupils ready to listen, think and share their ideas sensibly and respectfully.
Each year group’s Jigsaw scheme is made up of 6 ‘jigsaw pieces’ that are taught through the year: Being Me in My World; Celebrating Difference; Dreams and Goals; Healthy Me; Relationships; Changing Me. Because these termly themes are the same across all classes in school, they also become whole-school themes that are reinforced through assemblies and other acts of collective worship.
