Monday 5th July
The Year 5s really enjoyed our fieldwork in Eynsham this week. We all conducted a transport survey by looking at the vehicles on the Oxford Road, but some groups were investigating different questions. For instance, some were looking at the types and amount of cars that use the Toll Bridge so they could calculate how much trade/money the Toll Bridge are losing during it's closure. Whilst others looked at the types and models of cars to see which are the most common and what this could imply, e.g. the average cost, impact on the environment (hybrid cars or bicycles).
It was really interesting and the children were able to develop their knowledge of land use, trade and data collection skills as they worked together observing the passing transport.
Back in the classroom they are creating posters to present to the class about their investigation and their findings.
