The year 5 children had a great time at Didcot Railway exploring many different trains and how they run. They looked at which trains would have been used during WWII and their importance for travel and transportation during the war. The children even got to go on a moving train ride, with some children saying it was their first time on a train. They were encouraged to empathise with children who were evacuated to the countryside because of bombings and The Blitz. They were also able to experience time in an Anderson shelter and that the smallest of light could have given away their location for enemy planes.
Even though the weather wasn't on our side that day, the children still had a great time and learnt a lot!
